GALLERY: Opening May 20--Extraordinary Forms III: Focus on Fiber & WoodThe Kenan Center House Gallery will present the third installment of a sepcial companion exhibit of fine craft featuring wood and fiber. This year's exhibit will feature 15 accomplished artisans/instructors representing such academic institutions as Buffalo State College, Villa Maria, Rochester Institute of Technology's School of American Crafts, Edinboro College, and Sheridan College in Ontario. SPECIAL EVENT: 100 American CraftsmenIt's bolder, brighter, and more enticing than ever! The Kenan Center's 42nd annual 100 American Craftsmen show, celebrating the art of craft, takes place June 1-3. Featuring 110 artisans in clay, wood, glass, decorative metal, leather, wearable and decorative fiber, jewelry, paper, basketry, and mixed media. SUMMER PROGRAM FOR KIDS: Create Whimsical Sculptures with Essex Street Arts CenterThis summer for two weeks, the Kenan Center is teaming up with the Ashford Hollow Foundation and Essex Street Arts Center for a special hands-on visual arts project for ages 10-12 (or close to that age!). Kids will be on campus 3 days a week, either July 9-13 or July 16-20, and will work on their own individual sculptures and contribute to the design of two large-scale sculptures that will be installed on the Kenan Center campus with a public unveiling in September. There is no fee to participate, but enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a limit to the size of each week's group. SPORTS & RECREATION: Summer Soccer RegistrationSUMMER SOCCER REGISTRATION. Registrations are now being accepted for summer youth soccer. If you've participated in the last year, you will receive a form by mail. Or you can dowload a form by going to the Soccer page. Deadline for registration is May 18. BOOK YOUR CHILD'S PARTY AT THE ARENA ANNEX! Looking for something different and fun? You can rent the Annex space for your child's birthday party and plan all sorts of fun activities with plenty of room for kids to run around. You can even bring in inflatable bouncehouses (rental not provided). Call us at 433-2619 for info.

Special News ItemsWeather-related Closings The Kenan Center is closed when the Lockport Schools are closed due to weather. This includes the Arena and Nursery School. In the event the Kenan Center is closed, please call the Arena phone line at 433-2619, ext. 210, after 2 p.m. for any specifics on cancellation of games or practices.
