Niagara Wine & Beer Fest, January 28th!

EVENT IS SOLD OUT--ONLY THOSE WITH PRE-SALE TICKETS AND DESIGNATED DRIVERS WILL BE ADMITTED

Participating vendors include: Arrowhead Spring Vineyards, Black Willow Winery, Chateau Niagara Winery, Freedom Run Winery, Honeymoon Trail Winery, Leonard Oakes Estate Winery, Niagara Landing Wine Cellars, Schulze Vineyards & Winery, spring Lake Winery, Victorianbourg Wine Estate, Vizcarra Vineyards, and Winery of Ellicottville. Breweries represented will be Flying Bison, Lake Placid, Saranac, Long Trail, Pyramid, and Brooklyn. Participating farms and artisanal vendors are Blackman Homestead Farms, Hens Honey Bee Farm, Murphy Orchards, and Diva's All That Chocolate.Food will be provided by Shamues Restaurant with gelato provided by Sweet Melody's Authentic Italian Gelataria.

PARKING: Due to the large volume of cars anticipated, Kenan Center recommends off street parking on Beattie Avenue and adjacent side streets.There are a number of small parking lots close to the Arena on Beattie. We strongly advise against parking on the grass due to dampness of the ground.

EDUCATION: Register Now For Winter 2012 Classes!

Kenan Arts Council High School Scholarships Now Available

If you're a high school senior who will be majoring in art, design, music or theater, we invite you to apply for one of three $600 scholarships to be awarded to a student attending an eastern Niagara County School. For more details, and to download an application form, click here. Deadline for applications is March 23, 2012.

SPORTS & RECREATION: Enter To Win an Autographed Ryan Miller Jersey!

Raffle tickets are now on sale at the Kenan Center Arena for a chance to win a signed Ryan Miller jersey donated by First Niagara Bank and the Buffalo Sabres. Tickets are $5 each or 3/$10. Drawing will be March 31, 2012. Proceeds will help us to purchase new plexiglass for the Arena Annex. The more tickets you buy, the better your chances of winning!

Winter Youth Soccer. Limited Openings in All Age Groups Available. These spaces will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Call the Arena office at 433-2619 or visit the Arena from 11 am to 7 pm for an application form.

Adult Volleyball Registration. Registrations are now being accepted for winter volleyball, both 4-person and 6-person teams. Information and forms are available for download by going to the Adult Recreation page, or visit the Arena office. Deadline is January 18.

GALLERY: Three Brushes, Works by Manning McCandlish, Michael McMahon and Shirley Murdoch, February 12-March 11

Join us for our kick-off gallery exhibit of the new year as we present three Niagara County artists exhibiting together for the first time. Free public reception, Sunday, February 12, 2-5 pm. Gallery hours: M-F, noon-5 pm; Sat & Sun, 2-5 pm. Work shown: Burning Bush by Manning McCandlish.

Tea & Tour, March 4. Join the three artists for a special afternoon talk and tour of the exhibit while enjoying a variety of hot teas and light fare. 2-4 pm. $20/person. Reservations only.Call 433-2617 or reserve in person at the Kenan Center Business Office.

Geocachers: Kenan Center is on the Seaway Trail!

More than 100 geocachers have already found the cache hidden at the Kenan Center since July. There are 75 caches along the Great Lake Seaway Trail--locate 10 within the five lake regions, and receive a collectible coin. Start now by going to Great Lakes Seaway Trail Geo Trail.

Special News Items

Weather-related Closings The Kenan Center is closed when the Lockport Schools are closed due to weather. This includes the Arena and Nursery School. In the event the Kenan Center is closed, please call the Arena phone line at 433-2619, ext. 210, after 2 p.m. for any specifics on cancellation of games or practices.
