PERFORMING ARTS RESIDENCY & PERFORMANCES.
Cello Fury. Pittsburgh-based Cello Fury boldly defies the boundaries of classical and rock music, creating a sound that's totally unique! Cello Fury is a rarity in the music world: three classically trained cellists and a rock drummer performing high-octane music in widely ranging venues. Appealing to a wide audience -- from kids to adults, metal heads to classical music lovers -- sets Cello Fury apart from your average rock band. Releasing their first music video with the John Lennon Education Foundation, they have performed as soloists with the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops under the direction of Marvin Hamlisch. The Kenan Center is proud to present them in a residency week program that will include public and in-school programs as well as a master class (see details below).
Lecture/Demonstation, Werdnesday, May 5, 1-3 pm: The public is invited to enjoy this very special opportunity to not only enjoy the performing talents of Cellofourte, but learn more about their particular path as young musicians in the classical music field. $5 per person.
Master Class for Music Teachers, Wednesday, May 5, 6 pm. Cost: $8 per person. Advanced reservations requested by calling 433-2617.
Public Performance, Friday, May 7, 7 pm: Regular ticket prices apply (see below). Tickets: $10 adults/$9 seniors & members/$8 children unless otherwise noted. Kenan Center Taylor Theater.
